75% of Man Utd fans want £27m-rated creator to start against Man City

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that their side can hold on to their 2nd place spot for the rest of the season.

Though the Red Devils have spent much of the season in 2nd place, Jose Mourinho’s men haven’t been able to keep up with Pep Guardiola’s rampaging team.

Fortunately, Jose Mourinho will get a chance to prove his mettle against the league leaders this weekend, with a Manchester derby against Man City on the cards later today.

All eyes will be on Jose Mourinho as he looks to best his old rival Guardiola, and so every decision he makes will be up scrutinized. That includes his team selection, with a handful of places up for grabs.

One player that has been in and out of the team as of late is Juan Mata, who is rated at £27 million by Transfer Markt. The Spaniard featured in the Red Devils’ last game, but rarely has Jose Mourinho committed to utilising him week-after-week.

Man Utd fans, though, seemingly want that to change.

We recently ran a poll on the matter with one simple question: should Mata be dropped against the Citizens this weekend? Fans, it seems, don’t want that to be the case, as the results – which can be seen below – highlight.

A whopping 75% of fans responded by stating that they don’t want to see him dropped, whilst just 25% voted to the contrary.

That’s certainly a bit of a surprise. He’s only bagged 3 goals this season, whilst he also only has 4 assists to his name.

That said, whilst his stats aren’t the best we’ve ever seen from Mata, his quality is clear for all to see. He possesses brilliant technique, a fantastic pass and undeniable passion. In a game like this, all it takes is a moment to change things, and Mata has the quality to turn a game on its head in an instant.
