Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern were celebrating their crucial victory over London rivals Arsenal yesterday by dancing on the tables but their mood has been somewhat ruined by reports emerging this morning.
The Daily Express, reporting via French outlet Telefoot, states that Antoine Griezmann has ruled out an exit from Atletico Madrid as the French international is targeting success in the Spanish capital.
Atletico are currently level on points at the top of the La Liga table alongside Barcelona, who have a game in hand, and Diego Simeone’s side will be aiming to continue going toe-to-toe with the defending champions as the season progresses.
Griezmann has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea though, with reports stemming back to his time at Real Sociedad, but the French international stated he’s happy at the Vicente Calderon and isn’t eyeing an exit.
“I am feeling very well at Atletico. This is a big club and I want to achieve great things here. I am ambitious and my goal is to win trophies here. I have become more mature. The club and my team-mates rely on me.”
“I have become a more complete player and have to continue on the same path. I am not at my best just yet. I work every day to improve and reach my top. I am still far away from the best players.”
Griezmann has scored 18 goals in all competitions for Atletico Madrid this term and our landlord believes he’s making the right call by staying with Atletico.
