After it was announced recently that Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles had signed a new contract at the club until 2024, we discussed what that meant for the club.
The 24-year-old is one of the key players for Newcastle, and is a favourite of Rafa Benítez’s. While this contract extension has been signed, it doesn’t necessarily keep him at the club, however, and may have only been a tactic by owner Mike Ashley to ensure he gets a good price for the defender.
With that in mind, we asked whether you expected Lascelles to remain at St James’s Park, or when you expect him to leave, and these were the results:
It is clear that the majority of Newcastle fans expect Lascelles to leave at some point, with 79% coming to that conclusion. What is more interesting is that 29% believe he will leave in January, and 29% believe he will leave at the end of the season. Either way, this does not bode well for The Magpies.
