Man Utd are in a difficult position at the moment. Though they've had a couple of good performance in recent weeks, results have still been below par.

That came to a climax against Juventus in the Champions League, with the Red Devils putting in one of their worst performance of the season so far.

With 9 games now done in the Premier League, we're about 1/4 of the way through the season, and things aren't looking good at the moment.

That can be attributed to poor management from Jose Mourinho, of course, but it can also go down to poor performances from players. It's fair to say that more than a few players have been below par this term.

With that said, it’s obvious that these 2 Man Utd players simply haven’t been good enough...

Fred

It was always going to be difficult for someone like Fred to come to the Premier League and make an instant impact. He came from the Ukranian league, and whilst he's obviously got a lot of talent, the English top flight is such a tough division.

Nonetheless, even by those standards, Fred has been below par.

In fact, he's already lost his spot in the Man Utd first team, and nothing he's done in recent weeks has indicated that he's good enough to be a regular at Old Trafford.

He seriously needs to step it up, or he could stay out of the team long-term.

Romelu Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku has scored a few goals for Man Utd this season, but his overall play has been well below par. Games often pass him by, and his infamous poor first touch seems to have gotten even worse.

It's frustrating for Man Utd, as Lukaku improved dramatically last season, yet somehow he's managed to struggle more than ever this season.

It's perhaps more indicative of Man Utd's offensive struggles more broadly, but Lukaku is the sort of player that needs to take games by the scruff of the neck and dominate - and so far he hasn't done that.

His overall play has been messy, and his goalscoring is suffering.
