With the prospect of a top-four finish now out of their hands, the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to see a little bit of experimentation from Antonio Conte against Newcastle on Sunday.
Though, of course, the Italian needs to win the game to have any chance of finishing in the top-four, he can afford one or two places to players that perhaps haven’t had much of a chance this season, and one such example is young Callum Hudson-Odoi, who we recently made a case for that he should start this weekend.
The English attacker looks good enough to play for any team at the moment, and it’s quite surprising, in fact, that he hasn’t had much of a chance under Antonio Conte.
That’s something that the Chelsea faithful want to see change on Sunday, though, at least judging by a recent poll.
We recently asked Chelsea fans whether the Englishman should be given a chance against Newcastle, and it’s fair to say that the results were very one-sided indeed. In response, a whopping 92% of Chelsea fans voted in favour of the idea – with just 8% voting against it.
It’s no real surprise, to be honest, that Hudon-Odoi is so popular. He’s been a star in the Chelsea developmental system this season, and he’s played a key part in all of the success they’ve achieved.
When you throw in the mixed form of some of Chelsea’s other attackers, it simply makes sense to give him a chance. After all, surely he can’t do much worse than Pedro did on Wednesday night.
