97% Of Spurs Fans Wouldn’t Sack Harry If He Failed To Land CL Football Next Season

This Spurs’ Striker Survey survey was good stuff. Simple, quick no nonsense snapshots of opinion across 13 countries.

Before I unleash the results. Well done Spurs fans for…actually answering all the questions. We did one for Arsenal recently and despite every question is constructed to allow a positive response even in relation to unquestionably negative issues, the absolute majority of them wouldn’t even vote positively in a question with overly negative overtones.

As the 10 questions were answered, my overwhelming thought was, ‘what an upbeat bunch’ most of you are. More tolerant that I would have guessed.

The poll was essentially triggered by yet another ‘bad day at the office’ from our strikers, this time against West Ham. So, when asked what your opinion of our current forwards was the vote was neatly split. Whilst 40% said it was, ‘beyond a joke’,  40% reminded us that there had been some great goals, just not enough of ’em! And 20% were super nice and said that they weren’t the world’s worst.

Now, less unrelenting generosity towards Mr Defoe. 52% want to slap a For Sale sticker on his windscreen. 30% felt he was still recovering from injury and 18% of you happy clappers believe class is permanent – even after only 2 goals in a year…

Pav divided opinion. 60% felt he needs more games and 40% thought he was hopeless. Crouch in the eyes of nearly 70% of you is a gem in Europe. And Europe only. The Van der Vaart love in still burns brightly and rightly so I’d say with nearly 90% of you saying he was suffering from a combi of not being completely fit and Harry’s iffy tactics. Only a crazy minority had the ache with the Dutchman.

On Harry, over half of you acknowledged he fluffed it in the last window. But being the incredibly tolerant folks you are, the bulk of the remaining fans polled felt that the striker’s being rubbish was as much to blame as the absence of new blood.

That said, when asked what you wanted, it was a landslide. A big name monster signing. Only a handful of you wanted Harry to bother with the current lot. We threw in a question about the England manager and you threw it back at us. Two thirds didn’t think Harry day dreaming of himself as the new manager was an issue. So a third felt his mind was elsewhere. Now I’m confused.

Not only tolerant, but realistic too it seems. When asked where you’d thought we’d finish, 60% of you thought 5th or worse. 30 odd% thought a 4th spot was still on and the stragglers beyond these are living in a happy, smiley, fluffy place inhabited by fairies and think higher finishes are still on the cards.

Last up was a game of consequences. Only 7% of you wanted Harry’s head on a platter if Champions League football isn’t secured. A whopping 85% of you said you’d just have to try really hard to qualify ‘next time’. Wow. The remainder wouldn’t object to a domestic cup instead.

A big thank you to all that took the time to complete our Spurs’ Striker Survey!
