Liverpool have made some excellent signings this summer as manager Jurgen Klopp looks to deliver a first Premier League title to Anfield.
The additions of Fabinho, Keita, and goalkeeper Alisson are all excellent additions to a squad which was already riddled with talent, and the Reds fans will no doubt excited to see where their team can go this coming season.
However, as with all squads who want to have success in the Premier League, strength in depth is needed, as well as having a solid base to build from, and we here at the Transfer Tavern think adding another defender is something Klopp should be looking to do before the window slams shut in two weeks.
One player we think would be a superb and not so expensive addition is Burnley defender Ben Mee, who has developed himself into a fine Premier League defender at Turf Moor, delivering consistent performances and really looking the part for Sean Dyche’s men.
Still only valued at a relatively low £9m by Transfermarkt, Mee could well prove to be one of the bargains of the summer if he was able to be picked up by the Reds for a price around that figure.
Mee is strong in the air despite not being the biggest for a central defender, and his commitment, reading of the game, and nouse for being able to sniff out danger mean he should have no trouble adapting to playing for a top four club.
Liverpool fans, what do you think? Would Mee be able to make the step up to your club? Let us know in the comments!
