A Chelsea Fan’s …2011/12 Premiership Dream Team

Well it may have been a disappointing domestic campaign for my beloved Chelsea but it has certainly been a tremendous Premier League season in so many ways.

If I was building a team to challenge for the Premier League trophy choosing players from this season it would be very difficult as there have been so many great performers this season.

This is not my team of the season but my dream team, meaning the players I would choose to manage in the Premier League.

My formation would be the increasingly popular 4-2-3-1 employed by Man City and Chelsea during this season.

GK = Joe Hart I think any defender would be confident having England’s number 1 behind them and I don’t feel there is a more consistent or skilled goalkeeper in the league. His age also means he is only going to get better over the coming years.

RB = Branislav Ivanovic Consistent, versatile and uncompromising. Great going forward and a rock defensively he would be my number 1 choice at RB.

CB = Vincent Kompany A true centre half, no nonsense and a great defensive reading capability. Not many strikers would choose to go up against Kompany.

CB = John Terry He may not be a fan favourite outside the Bridge and you may not like him personally but no one can knock him as a defender. One of the most consistent centre backs in Premier League history and a dying breed of true English centre backs.

LB = Ashley Cole Easily the best LB the Premier League has seen, simple.

CM = Yaya Toure Well he may have been a defensive midfielder and a small fish at Barcelona but he has proved himself to be a great midfielder. A modern day Patrick Vieria, Toure has been one of the players of the season this year.

CM = Scott Parker A British bulldog who provides so much energy and commitment he would walk into any midfield in the league.

RM = David Silva Was the Premier Leagues best player up until Christmas this year but faultered abit after that. Still can change a game in the blink of an eye.

CAM = Juan Mata Much like Silva he can unlock a defence when he likes and has settled into the Premier League with ease.

LM = Gareth Bale Performances dropped in the 2nd half of the season but in full throttle easily the best LM player in the world.

ST = Robin Van Persie Well goalscorer, provider and technically brilliant, need I say more.

Subs:

GK = Petr Cech Proved since Di Matteo took charge just how much of a top quality goalkeeper he is.

DEF = Micah Richards Strong, powerful and versatile.

MID = Frank Lampard Always scores goals and has proven he can play a deeper role.

MID = Luka Modric Midfield playmaker and could play wide if needed.

MID = Ramires Midfield dynamo.

ST = Sergio Aguero Fantastic first season in the league and a very creative striker.

ST = Grant Holt Would offer something different off the bench.

Now I know some great players have missed out and there are a few Chelsea players but it’s my team and I have picked a squad that has a good balance to it.
