Manchester City are hoping to hijack Barcelona’s deal to sign Chilean starlet, Alexis Sanchez as they prepare a €40Million offer for the Udinese winger.
The Chilean international is keen to join European champions, Barcelona but the Catalan club are still yet to agree a fee with Udinese. Pep Guardiola has been given a war chest of €40Million to spend this summer and is not willing to spend the whole budget on one player as he is also looking to bring Cesc Fabregas into the club this summer.
This leaves the door open for Manchester City to rival the Catalans for the starlet’s signature as Udinese are looking for the highest bid possible.
The Italian club’s owner, Giampaolo Pozzo told Manchester Evening News:
“If he was to leave, I would say that City have the highest probability of signing him.”
The owner is keen to sell to the Premier League outfit due to the fact they are more likely to meet his €50Million valuation of the forward.
Pozzo has been keen to big up his prized asset as he encourages both Manchester City and Barcelona to up their bids for what he describes as the ‘best player of his generation’. The Italian owner has compared the 22-year-old to Cristiano Ronaldo and said that he is the missing piece to the Barcelona set up.
Of course, it is a dream for the player to move to Barcelona and play alongside the best players in the world. This transfer saga could, however, come down to money and that means that Manchester City are primed to steal the tricky winger.
If recent reports from the Daily Mail about Alexis Sanchez being unwilling to board a plane to Manchester to discuss a possible transfer to Eastlands are to be believed then this transfer saga could go on a while yet.
