The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been hoping that another new signing will be made at Anfield this month. The signing of Virgil van Dijk was certainly welcomed amongst our resident Reds, but there is a desire for Jurgen Klopp to bring in a bit more quality before the window ends.
Liverpool’s current league position is far from secure, and whilst a top-four finish is expected, it’s certainly not a foregone conclusion that they will secure that.
Nonetheless, it appears as though Liverpool are set for a quiet few days on the transfer front, and one player that certainly won’t be coming to Anfield is Thomas Lemar. The Reds and Lemar have often been mentioned in the same sentence in recent months, but according to the Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp has decided against making a move for the Frenchman.
The Liverpool Echo report that, owing to his £90 million price tag, Klopp isn’t interested in Lemar, and whilst he would like to bring him in, there is no chance of that happening unless Monaco’s demands reduce significantly.
Whilst Lemar is a player that most fans would like to see, it appears as though the Liverpool fans over on the Liverpool subreddit page are firmly behind the boss. They’ve been reacting to the news today, and like Klopp, they recognise that the price is far beyond what they would like to see their side pay.
With one fan describing the idea of bringing him in for that price as ‘stupid’, it’s fair to say that Klopp’s comments have gone down well.
