Tottenham Hotspur suffered a very disappointing defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers recently, which may have ended their title pursuit early.
Spurs will definitely need to dip into the transfer market this month in an attempt to strengthen for the European and domestic challenges ahead.
Although, it appears as if a potential January swoop may only occur on one condition, as Tottenham’s move for Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen could be scuppered if they cannot flog Vincent Janssen and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou.
Of course, this could create a number of complications for Mauricio Pochettino as he desperately needs bring in attacking reinforcements in January, with a lack of cover in the final third.
Therefore, here’s TWO reasons as to why a collapse on Tottenham’s pursuit of Bowen could wreck them…
LACK OF ATTACKING REINFORCEMENTS
Tottenham Hotspur are still yet to find back-up cover for Harry Kane at the pinnacle of the attack, as Vincent Janssen has spent his time out on loan and on the injury table, while Fernando Llorente has been a huge disappoint and appears to have lost his goalscoring touch.
Indeed, the great thing about Bowen is that he has the ability to play anywhere across the front three, which could really come in handy for Mauricio Pochettino.
But, failing to secure his services would leave them short on numbers and could force the Argentine into turning to some of his fringe players, who could potentially harm the club’s top-four hopes.
Of course, injuries are always going to occur in a long, tiring season, so providing cover is something that could prove crucial in the second half of the season.
Indeed, at this moment in time the Lilywhites aren’t prepared for an injury, which was evident when Juan Foyth had to step into the side earlier on this season, but that situation turned out okay.
However, Spurs rely heavily on the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Heung-Min Son as they often deliver the goods and secure the points. So, an injury to one or two of those four players could prove fatal in the second half of the season, as missing out on Jarrod Bowen would leave them without another goal threat.
