Everton appear to be enjoying life under Marco Silva this season as they look to continue their fine start to the Premier League season.
The Portuguese manager has seen his side put in some impressive performances under his guidance and will want to see that again as they return to action against Cardiff City at the weekend.
One area of concern that the Toffees may have despite being 12 games into the season, may be the fact that goals from their forwards have been hard to come by, with Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson coming to their rescue on more than a few occasions.
However, the Goodison Park outfit once had a striker that used to be able to find the back of the net for fun and fans would love to have a player of his ability and quality to lead their line once again.
A moment in time: Romelu Lukaku’s career at Everton
Romelu Lukaku joined the Toffees initially on a temporary loan deal from Chelsea in 2013 and instantly made an impact.
The Belgium international scored 15 goals in 31 Premier League games that season and helped guide Everton to a fifth-place finish in Roberto Martinez’s first season in charge.
He then signed on a permanent deal following those exploits and managed to record a further 53 goals in his three years that followed before completing a move to Manchester United for a deal thought to be worth around £75million with an addition £15m in add-ons.
Since Lukaku’s departure from Goodison Park, Everton have had a number of strikers that have failed to fill the void the 25-year-old left.
The likes of Oumar Niasse, Sandro Ramirez and Cenk Tosun have all been options that the club has had as centre-forwards, however, they are yet to hit the heights he did and do not quite look as though they will.
Should Everton want to progress further and achieve a spot within in European football once again, Silva must look to find a striker who would be able to replicate the success Lukaku had at Goodison Park.
