Tottenham Hotspur are currently enjoying their best ever start to a Premier League season and will look to continue that when they meet Chelsea at Wembley Stadium in Saturday’s late kick-off.
Mauricio Pochettino has certainly been a great manager for the north London outfit, as he looks to have taken Spurs to the next level and a step closer to where they want to be.
The club are definitely a side capable of challenging for silverware and will likely pick some up sooner rather than later, although there will be calls for the club to add a number of players to ensure they remain in a position to keep the pace with their rivals.
Those exploits that the Argentine has managed to achieve with Tottenham have not gone unnoticed, with a number of Europe’s biggest clubs having taken a keen interest in the past, although one achievement may have stood out more than others.
A moment in time: Mauricio Pochettino guides Tottenham to an unbeaten run of 15 games
Between December and April of the 2017/18 season, Pochettino managed to take his side through the majority of the second half of the campaign unbeaten.
Spurs were victorious in 12 of the 15 matches they played, which included results against Arsenal and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge – a ground they had failed to win at in almost three decades previously.
Tottenham managed to pick up three draws in their other matches, including a hard-fought game against Liverpool, in which they almost won themselves.
Ironically, the 15-game unbeaten stretch started following a heavy defeat to Manchester City and it was Pep Guardiola’s side that ended that same run 15 games later.
Although they have recorded their best ever Premier League start, Pochettino’s side are yet to put together a real run of results, with an unbeaten streak of four currently being their best in the top-flight.
Should Tottenham be able to produce another run of that magnitude in the near future, there is no doubt that they will be able to compete for silverware this season.
However, should Pochettino be able to replicate those types of feats once again, the interest in the Argentine will surely pick up and it could be a matter of time before he leaves Spurs.
