Arsenal are a club who, over the years, have become synonymous with developing great players, only to see those players move on for better money or more recently, more chance of success in terms of winning titles and cups.
The Gunners, who are still the only Premier League side in history to go a full season unbeaten, have a rich history for having top talent on their hands, and our landlord here at the Tavern thinks that replacing that top talent has always been an issue for the Londoners.
One such player who simply has never been replaced at the Emirates is former captain and World Cup winner Patrick Vieira.
The big Frenchman was a dominant force for the Gunners back in the 90s and 2000s, and he has been sorely missed, however, our landlord thinks that Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan could finally be the man to replace Vieira.
The Belgian midfielder is a powerhouse of a footballer, capable of bullying the opposition and also being very comfortable on the ball. His long range shooting is also something which can be admired, and his form has been key to any success Roma have had over the last few years.
With Arsenal still looking lightweight in the middle ever since Vieira moved on, Nainggolan might well be the answer. At 29, he’s in his prime, and manager Arsene Wenger should act now to seal a move for one of Europe’s best central midfield talents.
