Newcastle United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern can be forgiven for wanting the 2013/14 season to be over and done with.
Most have already got their hands on the World Cup sticker album, and are counting down the days until they can enjoy some decent football, and maybe even some actual goals.
It’s been a nightmare second half of the season for the Magpies.
Their manager has been busy headbutting Hull City midfielders, the strikers have forgotten how to score, and the less said about the defending the better – even David Moyes was able to mastermind a 4-0 win at St. James’ Park!
Magpies fans have turned on Alan Pardew, and have been busy venting their anger at the silver fox, as well as owner Mike Ashley at every game home and away.
The turning point in many Toon fans’ seasons came on January 28th, when influential midfielder Yohan Cabaye completed his big money transfer back to Ligue 1 with Paris Saint-Germain.
Cabaye was well on his way to winning Newcastle’s player of the season award, and his lack of influence – and any sort of replacement – has taken a huge toll on their second half of the season performances and results.
Monday night’s 3-0 defeat to Arsenal was the latest nail in the Newcastle coffin, and this supporter’s Vine made following Cabaye’s sale in January perfectly sums up how Toon fans have been feeling since.
