‘A star for the future’ – Tottenham fans on Twitter praise youngster after club’s post

The Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern have been responding to their club’s tweet, wishing young full-back Kyle Walker-Peters happy birthday. The tweet has led a number of Tottenham fans to show their appreciation for the 21-year-old as they look forward to seeing him don the famous Lilywhites shirt in the future.

Walker-Peters will have enjoyed this season, he started in Spurs’ first game of the season against Newcastle and was named as the man of the match when he helped to keep a clean sheet in a tidy 2-0 away win in August. The young full-back also scored his first senior goal for the club this season as he netted Tottenham’s 6th and final game in stoppage time as the North London club beat Rochdale 6-1 in their FA Cup 5th round replay.

The England U21 international has been thrown his chance this year as the sale of Kyle Walker and decline of Danny Rose have put the club’s full-back spots up in the air, despite the fact Serge Aurier and Ben Davies look to have now nailed themselves on as first-teamers on either side of Tottenham’s backline. The future looks bright for the Tottenham youngster, and with Mauricio Pochettino being one of the world’s best managers at developing youth, it’s just a matter of time before Walker-Peters becomes a regular feature in N17.
