The resident Reds in the Transfer Tavern are resigned to losing Philippe Coutinho to FC Barcelona this month.
The future of Coutinho’s Liverpool career has been hanging in the balance since the transfer window last summer, but it now appears that a conclusion to the lengthy saga is imminent. Despite Liverpool’s stubborn resistance to Barcelona’s interest in the last 6 months, it seems that Coutinho will eventually make the switch from Merseyside to Catalonia, much to the dismay of the Liverpool fans propping up the bar in the tavern.
With that being said, one would assume that Klopp is working in conjunction with FSG to identify a replacement for their first-choice playmaker this month.
Perhaps to the surprise of many, Arsenal’s contract rebel Alexis Sanchez has emerged as a surprise candidate to replace Coutinho.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the former England manager Steve McClaren has urged Liverpool to pursue the wantaway Gunner this month, and the former Liverpool star John Aldridge has also encouraged Liverpool to put in a “sneaky” bid for his services according to The Irish Independent.
It’s fair to say that the Liverpool fans are from from reaching a consensus in their opinion of Sanchez, as the reports have produced a mixed bag of opinions from the Liverpool fans on Twitter.
A handful of supporters have serious qualms over Sanchez’s attitude, but there are plenty of fans who believe the Chile international could be the perfect player to fill the void left by Coutinho.
Here’s how the Liverpool supporters reacted to their club’s links with Sanchez…

I would take him and Goretza together as PC replacements.

Klopp is all about the group. No way he'd contaminate it with someone like Sanchez.

Would love it. He is a world class player. Like all others , Wenger has turned a world class player into an ordinary one, once committed he is unstoppable.

Quality player but don’t want a player that throws so many tantrums on the pitch…wouldn’t be loyal to us if we didn’t win anything. Wouldn’t offer same quality in build up play as coutinho… would rather Gamble on lemar…Keita should fill the work rate in midfield next season
