Maurizio Sarri's reign at Stamford Bridge has only produced two new signings so far, with Jorginho and Rob Green both joining Chelsea in recent weeks, but a recent report suggests that a hugely controversial deal could be on the horizon.

According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, Chelsea are ready to take advantage of Aaron Ramsey's contract situation by signing the Welsh star in a deal worth £30 million. Ramsey recently entered the final year of his contract and, with no agreement in place regarding an extension on his current deal, Sarri is waiting in the background to capitalise.

Despite being just 27-years-old, Ramsey is something of a veteran of the Premier League with 234 appearances in the top-flight already under his belt, so there's no doubt that he represents a wise investment to pursue this summer.

In 234 appearances Ramsey has scored an eye-catching 36 goals and provided 45 assists, taking his career tallies to 62 and 60 respectively. For a box-to-box midfielder who has rarely been deployed in an advanced position, his record proves that he possesses the natural ability to make an impact in the final-third - a quality which would complete Chelsea's midfield next season.

With N'Golo Kante providing the engine room and the new-recruit Jorginho using his playmaking ability to keep Chelsea ticking over, Ramsey would provide Sarri with a perfect player to slot into a midfield three with his intelligence in the final-third and ability to both find the back of the net and create golden opportunities for his teammates.

The fact that Ramsey was Arsenal's Player of the Season during the previous campaign and would be sorely missed by the Gunners certainly adds a further layer of attraction to the potential deal.

At £30 million the signing of Ramsey would be an absolute steal for Sarri and, if contract talks do indeed break down between him and the Arsenal hierarchy, Chelsea should do everything in their power to complete a controversial deal to bring him to Stamford Bridge this summer.
