I reported in January regarding a hands off warning issued by Fiorentina regarding Chelsea’s approach for Stevan Jovetic and now …they have dug their heels in either deeper by issuing another warning to Chelsea who’s Hulk deal is beginning to stall.
A statement from Fiorentina read:
“In relation to the stories published in the press regarding Stevan Jovetic, Fiorentina owner Andrea Della Valle reiterates that the player is not on the market”.
Chelsea were reportedly keen on Jovetic in January but a warning was issued and now Chelsea could be interested again the Italian club are adament Jovetic is going nowhere.
The 22-year-old is under contract with the Tuscan outfit until June 2016. Jovetic scored 14 league goals in 27 league appearances for the Viola last season.
When clubs issue hands off warnings it is usually to increase the players transfer fee but in this case I feel Fiorentina are serious and do not want to sell Jovetic. A player who Chelsea would be interested in if the Hulk deal falls through.
For a player who is second choice I think this deal would be too much hassle and the fee would constantly inflate until an unrealistic sum was tabled and Fiorentina would agree but Chelsea would have overpaid.
There are many top talents out there and if a deal is complicated and the player is not world class then is it worth it?
Last summer we spent all summer chasing Luka Modric, failed and ended up with very little transfer activity. This summer, if a deal falls through then move on and find another player hopefully better.
