The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are desperate for Antonio Conte to land a new central defender…
You certainly can’t fault the Italian for trying.
During his first few months in charge of the Blues, Antonio Conte seemingly targeted every young midfielder under the sun – but had to settle for a last minute deal for David Luiz after falling short in pursuit of alternative targets.
One of those players was AC Milan Alessio Romagnoli, whom the Blues reportedly made a move for over the summer to no avail.
However, it would appear that Antonio Conte has not given up on the young Italian – and now AC Milan have named their price as Chelsea continue to monitor the 21-year-old.
As per the Sun, AC Milan will demand £50 million should Chelsea wish to bring the Italian to Stamford Bridge – in a move that would come close to breaking transfer records.
They add that Romagnoli remains a high priority target for Conte, which could suggest that the Italian will move for the 21-year-old as early as January.
Romagnoli has been in good form so far this season, and has established himself as a key part of Milan’s first team.
He has already made 6 appearances – and has looked impressive as Milan sit in 6th place in Serie A.
