Reports this weekend suggest that it is Newcastle United who will be the benefactors of Adam Johnson leaving Man City. On loan in January.
It seems that City are willing for a whole host of players to leave in the transfer window, with Johnson one of many of a disgruntled squad, due to the lack of playing time.
It appears that Johnson, obviously a lad of the North East, will head back home to join up with Andy Carroll, Joey Barton et al. in a bid to get back in Fabio Capello’s good books. Newcastle themselves would be ecstatic with the move as it would solve their problems out wide after Ben Arfa was cruelly injured in October, and to get a player of Johnson’s calibre and quality would delight the Toon faithful.
The only stumbling block now, is can Mike Ashley be persuaded? They do love a winger up there you know…
