‘Adds nothing to the side’, ‘Don’t you dare’ – Arsenal fans on Twitter beg Wenger not to start midfielder against Liverpool tonight

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are praying their side will record victory over Liverpool in a massive top-four clash this evening.

Arsene Wenger’s side have an opportunity to leap-frog their opponents into fourth place this evening with a victory over Liverpool at The Emirates Stadium. Arsenal have endured a rather torrid run against Liverpool in recent years as they have only managed 2 victories from their last 9 fixtures against The Reds, including no win in their last 5. The Gunners will be itching to put an end to their recent struggles in this fixture with an emphatic victory to kick-off the festive period.

Ahead of their clash with Liverpool this evening, the Arsenal fans have been voicing their opinion on Twitter regarding Wenger’s team selection.

And plenty of supporters have been calling for Alex Iwobi to be left out of the starting eleven.

So far this season, Iwobi has made 10 appearances for the club in the Premier League, scoring just 1 goal and providing 0 assists in the process.

Although statistics do not always tell the full story in football, it is fair to say that his record so far is fairly uninspiring for a player who operates in an attacking midfield role whether through the centre or out wide.

Whether Wenger chooses to listen to the Arsenal supporters or start Iwobi for the third match in a row  remains to be seen.

Here’s what the Arsenal fans had to say about Iwobi’s potential involvement this evening…
