The likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Richarlison and Bernard have all been lauded in the British media in recent weeks for the quality of their displays at Everton, but it appears that Marco Silva is not completely content with his options.

Indeed, a recent report from the Daily Mail has claimed that Everton are interested in signing Samir Nasri on a free transfer when his drug ban comes to an end next month.

With a proven track record in the Premier League and plenty of quality still to offer at 31-years-old, it's easy to understand why Marcel Brands is entertaining the possibility of completing a a shock free transfer.

The Frenchman was simply electric at times for both Arsenal and Manchester City, but Ademola Lookman's performance for England U21's last night was a gentle reminder of his huge potential to thrive in the Premier League.

Lookman was handed a starting berth on the right side of an England front-three compromising of Ryan Sessegnon and fellow Everton teammate Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and he set the young Three Lions on their way to a 7-0 victory by notching the opener after just 9 minutes.

A swift shimmy into the centre of the penalty area preceded a precise left-footed strike into the bottom corner, and he showcased his creative quality on the stroke of half-time by laying the ball on a plate for Calvert-Lewin to gobble up England's 3rd of the evening.

Whilst it must be considered that Lookman will certainly not be treated to the same level of freedom in the Premier League to the one he enjoyed on Thursday evening, his excellent performance provided Silva with food for thought as Marcel Brands lines up a potential swoop for Nasri.

Lookman is yet to be handed a single start in the league this season despite his obvious talent and recent success in the Bundesliga, with competition from the likes of Richalison, Theo Walcott and Bernardo forcing him to play nothing more than a backup role.

It appears the 20-year-0ld wonderkid will need to bide his time under Silva, but if he is able to build upon his international display and work his way into Everton's starting eleven in the coming weeks, there is no doubt that Brands would be wise to abandon his pursuit of Nasri.
