Some big players came to Everton over the summer. It was a period of change for the Toffees, with Marco Silva really bringing in a new era at Goodison Park.
Huge names were brought to the club, with men like Richarlison and Yerry Mina undoubtedly being the highlights at Goodison Park.
However, fast forward to the end of 2018, and whilst both of those players have impressed, there’s a case for Lucas Digne being Everton’s best signing in recent memory.
Like Mina, Digne came to Everton from Barcelona, but given his position on the right-hand side of the defence, he wasn’t able to garner the excitement of his teammate.
However, he’s really taken to his unsung hero status, and the Frenchman is now essential under Marco Silva.
Of course, he came in to replace Leighton Baines, which is a feat that nobody had been able to do for years prior to his arrival. However, he quickly took over the mantle from the Everton legend, and he’s never looked back.
His game against Burnley will earn him all the headlines, and rightfully so. With two goals and an overall performance that anyone in England would have been proud of, Digne was the best player on the field. His set-pieces are some of the best in England, and he was as robust as ever defensively against the Clarets.
However, that wasn’t a one-off. The defender has been that good all season long, and with every passing week, Everton look to have found the perfect right-back for the long-haul.
