The Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have not left the bar since the arrival of French international Alexandre Lacazette was announced on Wednesday evening, and don’t look like they’ll be leaving for quite some time.
While they’re here, then, we’ve got some more Gunners news to spread. According to reports from John Cross at The Mirror, star man Alexis Sanchez has laid down his wage demands if he is to commit his future to The Emirates, and the fans here in the bar are not going to like it.
The Chilean is reportedly after a whopping £400k-a-week to stay put in north London, with the club having already offered up £275k-a-week.
With German giants Bayern Munich having cooled their interest on the basis of his demands, the ball is in Arsenal’s court as to whether or not they can set aside such a substantial fee for one player, or look to negotiate the figure down.
Cross adds that Manchester City remain interested in the £55.25m-rated forward, however, the powers that be at The Emirates are desperate to avoid selling to a Premier League rival, with our landlord furthering the point suggesting it would be far more than counterproductive to strengthen top four rival who finished above them last season.
