After the World Cup, Arsenal must land this in-form international midfielder – agreed?

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are enjoying the revolution that Unai Emery is currently undertaking at the Emirates. The Spaniard has brought in a handful of players already, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a few more join before the summer ends.

Emery should be looking towards the World Cup in search of a bit of fresh talent, and based on current international form, Denis Cheryshev could be a good buy.

The attacking Russian had a bit of a mixed season last term, picking up just 2 goals and 2 assists but his form on the grandest stage has been exemplary. He’s picked up 3 goals in just 2 games – only 1 of which he started – and he’s been one of the focal points of the Russian attack. Indeed, he’s averaging just under a goal per half, and that’s a testament to his lethality. His conversion rate is solid too, having bagged 3 goals from just 8 shots.

A hardworking player, he’d fit in under the philosophy of Unai Emery, with the manager favouring offensive flair and overall effort. He’s not quite a regular starter over in Spain with Villarreal, and so he could be open to a move away. A switch to the Emirates could give him the fresh start that he needs.

One thing is for sure: Arsenal need more attacking quality, especially following the departure of Alexis Sanchez, and the tricky Russian could provide it. He’s rated at just £2.7 million by Transfer Markt, and so he could be an option of great value too.
