It might be a few days later, but the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern still aren’t over their side’s recent loss to Man City…
Though fans were optimistic in the lead-up to the Stamford Bridge clash, in reality, things went very poorly for the Blues. After losing Alvaro Morata in the first half, everything went downhill thereafter, with Chelsea never really threatening the Sky Blues.
It was a poor day for most of Chelsea’s players, but one player has drawn more ire than most: Willian. The Brazilian was brought on to replace Alvaro Morata ahead of Michy Batshuayi, but over the course of the next 60 minutes, he did very little to justify Antonio Conte’s decision.
Spending most of the game dribbling and passing backwards to very little success, it was a poor showing from the Brazilian. He, of course, cannot be blamed for the defeat, but he is certainly the first port of call for most supporters.
Indeed, his performance was so bad that some fans have been calling for him to be dropped. After all, Chelsea have a fair amount of attacking depth, and surely a poor performance like that – particularly given how much pressure he was under to succeed – cannot simply be glossed over.
