Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have the bubbly on hold this afternoon, after it was revealed no bids have been made for a prime striking target and that Liverpool are rivalling the Blues for the player’s signature.
Alexandre Pato has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in the past week, with The Mirror reporting a deal is close to completion, but the Brazilian’s agent appears to have dismissed those claims according to Portuguese outlet UOL Esporte.
26-year-old Pato is expected to return to European football this month, where he previously played for AC Milan, but his signature is still up for grabs- with agent Gilmar Veloz stating four clubs are in the hunt.
“The guys are working on getting an offer, but nothing Corinthians are yet to receive one. The January market is very limited.”
Veloz was then asked who has a chance of landing the Brazilian international and the agent revealed interest from two Premier League sides, rivalled by two of Portugal’s biggest clubs.
“Chelsea, Liverpool, Sporting and Benfica. All four have a chance.”
Our landlord is concerned that Chelsea could miss out on Pato’s signature as Liverpool have a better chance of offering European football next term, though he concedes the player is likely to get more playing time at Stamford Bridge.
