Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been on high spirits since their derby day victory over Manchester City yesterday but a spot of bad news this morning has ruined their start to the week.
The Daily Star, citing reports from Italy, quotes the agent of Genoa stopper Mattia Perrin as ruling-out an exit from the Serie A outfit this summer.
Perrin has been touted as a candidate to replace David De Gea between the sticks at Old Trafford for next season, with the Spaniard continuing to be linked with Real Madrid, but Matteo Moggi has insisted a summer move for his client won’t happen.
“I’ve been hearing these rumours for the last four years. Unless the wheel of international goalkeepers starts spinning, nobody is going to move. As soon as somebody moves, a domino effect begins.”
“He’s ready for a leap of quality into a top club, but he could also take an intermediate leap and play in the Europa League. We’re ready for the change, but we’re peaceful about it. We won’t leave just for the sake of leaving, as he’s already playing in a great team.”
Our landlord agrees with the views of the agent but he does believe a domino effect could occur, which could be sparked by De Gea’s potential move to Real Madrid.
United fans, would Perrin be a decent replacement for De Gea? Let us know in the comments below!
