World renowned football agent Jorge Mendes was in Cardiff last night to discuss James Rodriguez’s pending departure from Real Madrid, with Manchester United looking the most likely to pounce on the Colombian.
According to Spanish publication Don Balon, Mendes was in the city which hosted the Champions League Final to discuss Rodriguez’s departure with Real Madrid supremo Florentino Perez.
The 25-year-old has fallen way down the pecking order at the Spanish giants and boss Zinedine Zidane didn’t even name him on the bench for the 4-1 win over Juventus last night.
When a player of Rodriguez’s ability becomes available it is likely that several top European clubs will be interested, although Mendes’ relationship with United boss Jose Mourinho could hand the Red Devils the edge.
Mourinho’s United finished the 2016/17 campaign in a disappointing sixth place in the Barclays Premier League and it is now expected that another glut of world class talent will be signed to push the club towards a title charge next time around.
Madrid themselves will be looking to sign a couple of stellar signings and the departure of Rodriguez could free up some funds for them to make an assault on United for goalkeeper David de Gea.
One Manchester United supporter is relaxing in the beer garden waiting for tonight’s quiz and he is not sure Rodriguez is the sort of player United need right now, stating that he has ability but does question his quality when it comes to being able to adapt to the Premier League.
Manchester United fans, would you welcome Rodriguez to the football club? Let us know in the comments below!!!
