Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are reacting with shocked expressions on their faces, after hearing an agent of a target supposedly block a move to the Emirates Stadium.
The 22-year-old was a star performer for Albania in their opening defeat to Switzerland and his displays lead to alleged interest from the Gunners, who were said to be mulling over a swoop for the full-back.
However, Mario Giuffredi, who represents the Napoli ace, told Italian radio station Radio CRC that his client should not complete a move:
‘I consider Arsenal to be on the same level as Napoli, certainly not better. Napoli have become one of the most important clubs in Europe. He has to remain at Napoli for at least another year, as the Champions League enables you to become a complete player.’
‘Obviously if in a year or so an offer arrives worth €30m [£23.8m], then at those figures a player is generally sold. For now the player should be locked down and made happy to remain at Napoli, because then he brings benefits to the team too.’
Our landlord feels Arsenal don’t need this signing too much anyway, due to the excellent Hector Bellerin, but states the Gunners won’t be happy with these quotes.
