Agent of quality full-back rules out Manchester United transfer

NagatomoManchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been dreaming of bolstering their defensive line with a quality full-back but the bubble has been burst this afternoon, as they gather for karaoke night.

Manchester Evening News quotes the agent of Inter Milan full-back Yuto Nagatomo as rejecting a proposed move to Manchester United, indicating that his client wants to remain in Italy.

“We haven’t set any meetings up yet and at the moment there are no major developments. We have offers from English clubs, but Nagatomo wants to stay in Italy and specifically with Inter.”

The comments from Nagatomo’s agent come after the Japanese international himself directly addressed links to Old Trafford earlier this month, where the defender revealed he rejected an approach from the Red Devils in January.

“I like everything about Inter, I want to stay here and renew my contract. I turned down an offer from Manchester United, as my desire is to stay here. I have an excellent rapport with Roberto Mancini.”

United’s defensive ranks have been depleted this season due to an array of injury problems and Louis Van Gaal was keen to sign a full-back in January, though he achieved no success.

Our landlord isn’t convinced a top-quality player is required, as he believes Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw are extremely capable.

United fans, do you need to improve your defensive ranks? Who should you sign? Let us know in the comments below!
