Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have their head in their hands after hearing that one of the favourites to become the Blues’ next manager has been ruled out of the race by his agent.
The Daily Mail quotes the agent of Massimiliano Allegri as ruling out a move to the struggling Premier League champions this summer, stating his client will stay put at Juventus- who are set to offer him a new deal.
Chelsea have identified Juventus boss Allegri as a contender to replace the axed Jose Mourinho, with the Italian joining his compatriot Antonio Conte on the Blues’ shortlist, along with Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone.
However, Chelsea’s hopes of appointing the successful Juve boss Allegri have hit the works after his agent, Giovanni Branchini, stated that no move will materialise as his client is happy with his current position.
‘Allegri is fine where he is. The difficulties at the start of the season were inevitable.’
Amid all the speculation, Turin’s daily papers yesterday run a spread that stated Allegri would be staying put- which eases tensions ahead of tonight’s massive Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.
Our landlord believes Allegri was always third in the running behind Conte and Simeone, though he understands this is a massive dent in Chelsea’s ambitions.
