Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are a furious bunch after the weekend, with their shock quarter-final exit leading to many smashed pints in the bar and the majority calling for Arsene Wenger’s head.
It’s left the Gunners on course for a season without any trophies, despite looking the favourites to retain their FA Cup crown and having the best chance of Premier League success for a long, long time.
Whilst fans in the bar are hopeful of immense summer changes, particularly eying the addition of a world-class striker, it seems Arsenal will pull an Arsenal-like transfer, as The Sun state the Gunners are battling Borussia Dortmund for the signature of Roma’s teenage starlet Umar Sadiq.
The 19-year-old Nigerian has excelled in Rome this campaign, with sparking performances in the UEFA Youth League and adding to that two Serie A goals from this six appearances.
It’s stated Arsenal are eying a £13m move for the striker this summer, with the player’s agent Mohammed Lawalb confirming the Gunners are keen on his client.
“Yes we have been approached by Arsenal, but they are not the only team interested in Sadiq as Borrussia Dortmund are also pushing for him. In the coming days or weeks we will know where he is heading to, but for now he is very happy and focused at Roma.”
Arsenal recently secured two young Nigerians in the form of Kelechi Nwakali and Samuel Chukwueze, whilst 19-year-old Alex Iwobi has also impressed in the first-team this season.
