Arsenal fans gathering around the Transfer Tavern garden are excitingly discussing the possibility of finally landing a long-term target to bolster their midfield ranks.
Italian radio station Radio CRC quote the agent of Napoli age Jorginho, Joao Santos, as revealing his client could be available on the transfer market come the end of the season.
“He’s had a good season and it’s only normal for the lad to be attracting the attention of other clubs. I think that some of these rumours will have made it through to Napoli too and now we need to understand what the club want to do.”
“Anything can happen in football and he might even leave just a few months after he signed a new contract [until 2020]. Napoli could make a nice profit by selling him, but let’s wait to see what happens.”
Euro 2016 hopeful Jorginho has featured in 34 of Napoli’s 37 Serie A games so far this season, missing only the opening match and two due to suspension, and the 24-year-old has heavily been linked to Arsenal this season.
The Gunners are looking to revitalise their midfield ranks this summer, particularly with the impending exits of veteran trio Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky, who all see their contracts expire.
