It’s not been an easy season for the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern to endure but they can at least take comfort in the fact that they’ve received a boost in the chase for a long-term target.
TransferMarketWeb quotes the agent of Wolfsburg ace Ricardo Rodriguez as stating his client is ready for a transfer to a ‘big club’, increasing speculation that the defensive talent could leave the Bundesliga this season.
The Switzerland international, who played against Manchester United in the Champions League this season, is touted as one of the best young left-backs in the world and the 23-year-old starred in Wolfsburg’s shock victory over Real Madrid on Wednesday.
However, whilst on paper this sounds like good news for Manchester United’s pursuit of the player, Gianluca Di Domenico directly addressed links to Real Madrid and the Serie A, making no mention of the Red Devils.
‘He showed he’s ready to play for a top club, one like (Real Madrid) themselves. However, he’s not underestimating the chance to join Serie A, since he’s always been fascinated by Italian football.’
United’s possible lack of Champions League football next season could make it difficult for them to land a deal, whilst the Red Devils already boast Luke Shaw amongst their ranks.
