Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have reacted disappointedly, after it was revealed that they hadn’t actually made a move for a highly-rated South American.
Sport Witness quote the agent of Palmeiras’ highly-rated forward Gabriel Jesus as stating there has not been any contact with the player from Manchester United, despite reports to the contrary which suggested the Red Devils would bring him to Europe this summer.
Last month, Brazilian newspaper O Estado De Sao Paulo claimed Manchester United were set to enjoy a £5m discount on his £24m release-clause to bring the player to the Premier League but agent Cristiano Simoes has denied those claims.
“There wasn’t even a contact, at least not with me or the player. United are a world football force, everyone dreams of playing there, but the thing is not so simple.”
“We need to analyse aspects regarding [Gabriel’s] adaptation to food, climate, language, social interaction, among other things.”
Interest in Gabriel Jesus could skyrocket this summer with the Copa America and Olympics, with the striker expected to play a part in at least one of those major tournaments.
United fans, should you do all you can to bring this striker to England? Let us know in the comments below!
