Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been sinking a few ahead of tonight’s crucial Champions League tie and have been alerted to suggestions that their quest for a forward is falling on deaf ears.
The Daily Express reports that Arsenal are keen on Napoli ace Lorenzo Insigne but the player’s agent has indicated his client’s desire to remain with the Italian club ‘for life’. Antonio Ottaiano told Radio Crc:
“His contract expires in 2019 and Lorenzo Insigne has repeatedly said that he wants to stay at Napoli for life. If all the prerequisites are in place for it to happen, the engagement will become a marriage. The club believes in Lorenzo, they consider him crucial to the future of Napoli.”
The quotes make for bad reading for Arsenal fans, as the Gunners were linked to reviving their interest in the Italian forward in January.
Insigne has scored six goals and grabbed three assists in his eight Serie A matches this term, making him a favoured target for many Gooners at the bar. However, it seems they’ll have to identify a new target instead.
Arsenal fans, could Insigne be the missing link to your attack? Let us know in the comments below!
