Agreeing terms with this 25-year-old attacker makes perfect sense for Liverpool – agreed?

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are pretty excited at reports suggesting that Sadio Mane could be set for a new deal at Anfield. The Senegalese midfielder has become one of the Premier League’s best players, and so in the opinion of our landlord, the Reds should do all they can to tie him down to fresh terms.

After all, the Senegalese has emerged over the last year, and particularly over the last 6 months, as one-third of one of the Premier League’s deadliest attacks. Alongside Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, Mane offers a significant threat down the left-hand side of the attack, regularly connecting with his two attacking teammates to devastating effect.

He’s also very impressive on his own accord, and that’s what has endeared him to the Anfield faithful. Providing electric pace, technical skill and a decent work-rate, the he has really come of age since moving to Liverpool from Southampton. He was a standout player down at St Mary’s, but he has quickly developed into one of Europe’s best whilst at Anfield. He has bagged 6 goals and 5 assists so far this season, which is remarkable when you consider that, by all accounts, he’s had a difficult season. Far from his best, he’s still registering a tally beyond some of the other so-called top players in the Premier League. He picked up 13 goals and 5 assists last term, and so his threat on the field is evident.

As a result, based on his form alone, a new deal certainly makes sense.

Another interesting idea that must be considered is the effect that a new deal could have on Mane’s form. As previously noted, most can agree that he hasn’t been at his best this season, and so a new deal could offer him the boost that he needs to really turn things around. Given his contributions last season, the prospect of him finishing the campaign with a flurry is a truly terrifying thought for most opposing defenders.

In truth, Liverpool securing fresh terms with Mane makes perfect sense – do you agree?
