Toby Alderweireld took to Twitter this morning to announce some pretty big news. The Belgian defender presented his followers with a picture of his newborn baby girl, Ayla Alderweireld. The 29-year-old was met with many congratulatory messages from football fans everywhere but the Spurs fans among those used it as an opportunity to call for a new deal.

This season could be a huge one for Toby Alderweireld. It looked like the Belgian centre-back would be on his way out of the club over the summer when the likes of Manchester United and Bayern Munich came calling for his services. However, against all of the odds the defender stayed put and after announcing to the world that he’s had a baby daughter it’s unlikely that he’ll be looking to move anytime soon.
That news will be music to the ears of many Spurs fans and if he does wrap up this transfer saga by putting pen to paper at the club then it will be a huge step for all of the Tottenham fans who were resigned to the fact that they’d be losing out on one of the best defenders in both the Premier League and the world. When partnered with Jan Vertonghen, Alderweireld is a force to be reckoned with and there’s no reason why he can’t achieve great things at Tottenham.

Perfect, Now sign the contract and keep the child settled in North London!

Apparently moving a childs home before they are 5 years old is the most stressful thing that can ever happen to it

Surely that deserves a new contract. Congratulations Toby. Hope the family is well.

If he won't sign the contract get Ayla to sign it for him.

I heard that if you make any big life changes like moving clubs it’s not good for the baby, guess that means you gotta sign with @SpursOfficial again

Spurs fans everywhere are keen to keep Alderweireld at the club, and whilst they’re delighted for him with the latest addition to his family, they’ll be even more delighted if he extends his Tottenham stay.
