Tottenham supporters must be feeling extremely anxious over Mauricio Pochettino’s future in north London following that 2-0 Champions League final defeat to Liverpool.
Pochettino gave no assurances when speaking after the match (talkSPORT), and a former forward in the game believes the Argentine should jump ship if a huge opportunity such as the Juventus job comes along.
“The project at Juventus, in my mind, would be far more exciting because I think the ambition of Juventus would be greater than that of Spurs” Alejandro Moreno told ESPN FC.
“I think he has done as much as he can with Spurs, with this group of players,” the ex-Venezuela international later added.
Having transformed Tottenham into a Champions League team and taken them to a final, as Moreno alludes to, Pochettino has probably taken Tottenham as far as he can.
Significant backing in the transfer market and it is a completely different story. But is that something Daniel Levy is willing to offer? If he wants to keep hold of his manager, then he is going to have to.
Pochettino is in high demand and, from the Argentine’s perspective, he is going to become even more desperate to finally land that first trophy of his managerial career after coming so close this year.
With Tottenham not looking like they can provide Pochettino with the conditions to do just that, ultimately, it would not be a surprise if a change of scenery was now on the cards.
It is quite simple for Tottenham: back Pochettino or lose him, be it now or in the near future.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
