Arsenal are embarking on a new dawn under new boss, Unai Emery and with that in mind, the new boss shouldn’t be afraid of cutting away some of the deadwood from the club.
Emery’s tenure at the club has got off to a great start as the club have brought in a raft of new signings this summer.
The Gunners will be hoping to return to the Champions League places and even capture some silverware this season.
Going forward, the club have a few players to call upon but could still do with a right-winger. Alex Iwobi will likely start in that position next season but in truth, the Nigerian international has never managed to be a consistent performer.
Alex Iwobi’s current deal is set to run out in 2020 but now the winger is set to remain at the club as Emery goes through his Arsenal rebuild.
Having progressed through Arsenal’s youth academy, Iwobi broke into the first-team three seasons ago and was an instant hit. The following two seasons, Iwobi turned himself into a regular part of the first-team and played 26 games in the league in each of the last two seasons. While this may suggest that he is crucial to the team, in truth, the winger has stagnated.
Like many Arsenal youth academy players over the last few years, Iwobi’s game has failed to improve, while it’s also unsure of which is his best position.
