Alexander Sorloth set to leave Crystal Palace on loan

Crystal Palace are in dire need of adding a striker to their books this winter as they continue to struggle to find goals from their frontmen.

The Eagles have had to be heavily reliant on the likes of Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend this season to try and win them points as the Premier League campaign continues.

However, despite needing a striker, it appears Roy Hodgson is prepared to wave goodbye to one that he already has at Selhurst Park.

According to a report by Norwegian outlet VG, Alexander Sorloth is thought to have agreed to terms with Gent.

It is claimed the 23-year-old will join up with the Belgian outfit on a loan deal that will run until the end of the season, however, there is no clause in the contract to turn it into a permanent stay.

Sorloth is thought to be regarded highly by the club and a loan move could help him to rediscover his form ahead of next season.

The Verdict:

Despite Crystal Palace’s need to find a new striker, offloading Sorloth this January would be a good move by the Eagles.

The Norway international, who arrived last January, has struggled to make a real impact in south London and appears to be way down the pecking order with the likes of Christian Benteke, Jordan Ayew and Connor Wickham all ahead of him.

Sorloth will have the chance to make an impression with Gent, and should he do so, his career at Selhurst Park could burst into life next season.
