The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are pleased with the signing of Cenk Tosun from Besiktas and they are now looking forward to seeing who else Sam Allardyce brings in. Everton’s form has picked up since he came in but the former England manager is keen to bring in even more new faces this month as he starts to put his own personal mark on the Everton squad.
One area that Allardyce must be looking to bolster is the midfield. He must have been scouring the market for midfield targets to add competition for places in the middle of the park. His current options of Idrissa Gueye, Morgan Schneiderlin, Tom Davies and James McCarthy are more than capable of performing well in the Premier League but few would doubt Everton’s need for a more dynamic option.
Allardyce has always liked signing players with Premier League experience so he will be looking at the teams in the bottom half of the table and checking who he can poach. One ideal player for Everton would be Pascal Gross of Brighton.
Gross has been a revelation for Brighton since his summer transfer from FC Ingolstadt. The 26-year-old had previously been impressing in the Bundesliga and he has continued his form in England.
The former Germany under-19 international has the ability to pick passes and set up chances for his team mates while also finding the net himself. Gross has four goals and five assists this season and he would be able to give some exceptional service to the likes of Cenk Tosun and Wayne Rooney if he joined Everton.
