Allardyce targets Arsenal man as Crystal Palace rebuild plans continue

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been expecting him to leave the club for some time…

Kieran Gibbs has had a pretty unfortunate spell at Arsenal over the last few years. A quality player, the Englishman has struggled with injury problems – and when he has been fit, his competition at left-back has left him resigned to the bench for much of the season.

With Nacho Monreal ahead of him and performing well, many of the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been expecting his time at the Emirates to be winding down – and now it would appear as though that time could come sooner, rather than later.

According to the Sun, new Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce is looking towards Gibbs as a potential January signing – with the Englishman’s contract expiring at the end of next season.

The Sun notes that Gibbs could be sold by Wenger, with the Frenchman set to assess whether he is needed this year – with his value set to plummet as the time on his contract continues to reduce.

Whilst Gibbs has not featured much for Arsenal lately, the quality that he possesses is clear for all to see. A quick, technical defender – Gibbs would likely start for most other sides in the Premier League, be it not for a quality player like Monreal placing ahead of him.

The Crystal Palace fans in the Transfer Tavern would love to see him join, with his wealth of experience and quality an undebatable improvement for Allardyce’s men.

Our landlord thinks that a deal is likely.
