The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are beginning to feel quite optimistic about their side’s prospects this season. The arrival of Sam Allardyce has really reinvigorated the Toffees, and now a strong second-half of the season is expected.
However, it seems as though the new boss is under no illusions as to how difficult his tenure is going to be, and that’s why – at least according to the Daily Mail – he has big plans for his side in January. The Daily Mail reports that Besiktas attacker Cenk Tosun has been added to the Englishman’s wishlist for January, with the likes of Steven N’Zonzi and a new left-back also wanted come January.
Tosun, who according to the Daily Mail is rated at £20 million, has enjoyed a good season so far for Besiktas. Having made 12 starts in the league so far, he has bagged a solid 8 league goals, whilst 4 goals in the Champions League have proven his credentials outside of his native Turkey.
At 26-years-old, he’s a player that is entering the prime of his career, and so a move to Everton could appeal to him. That being said, Besiktas won’t want to sell him, and so it won’t be easy for the Toffees to seal this deal.
Everton clearly need a new striker.
Sandro Ramirez has failed to adapt to the Premier League, and so he needs replacing. Tosun, then, ticks all the boxes. He’s relatively young, he’s proven on a number of levels, and he’s a goalscorer.
If Everton can land this deal, a disappointing attack could turn into a deadly one quite quickly.
