Allardyce would prove that he means business at Everton if he lands this 47-cap international – agreed?

The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that the second-half of the season will be better than the first. Under Ronald Koeman, and then David Unsworth, the Toffees have had a torrid campaign thus far, and they’ll need a very impressive run to be in a respectable position by the time May comes around.

Sam Allardyce, though, is a manager that has built a reputation for his solid defensive work and his ability to grind out results, and so he’s a fantastic person to try and carry them through this tough period. He can’t do it all alone, though, and so a few new signings could give him the edge that he needs.

One player that has been linked with a move to Goodison Park is Theo Walcott, and our landlord thinks that he could be the perfect player for the former England boss.

Walcott is an often underrated and underutilised player, having had a mixed spell at current club Arsenal. He has shown moments of brilliance, but he has often been outshone by the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil at the Emirates. Typically, though, whenever he plays, he shows what he can do. Offering electric pace, fantastic dribbling and a decent shot, the Englishman is a real threat going forward, and he would give Everton another outlet in the attack.

Having made 47 international caps, the Englishman is a proven player at all levels, and he would be quite the coup for Sam Allardyce. Able to play as a forward and out wide, he’d be able to fill in wherever Allardyce requires, and given that he would likely become a key player at Goodison Park, that could give him the faith he needs to really kick on and reach his best form.

His signing would be a massive coup for Everton, and it would put down a marker for Sam Allardyce as he looks to turn Everton into the European contender that they should be.
