David Silva will call time on his Manchester City career at the end of next season, with the 33-year-old confirming he will leave the Etihad when his contract expires.
And for one man, there is no doubt he will depart England as a Premier League great. Take a look at what former Rangers manager Ally McCoist has had to say about the Spaniard in this instalment of our Pundit’s Choice feature.
“He’s definitely one of the best foreign imports in the Premier League, I don’t think there’s any doubt about that,” McCoist told talkSPORT. “He’s just an absolutely magical wee footballer.
“He’s very comfortable on the ball, always seems to have a little bit of space, he makes things happen. He sees it, he really sees it. His vision and awareness of people around him, his opposition and his own team is fantastic. He’s just got a great football brain.
“Once his season finishes and he leaves Manchester City I think people will quite rightly give him the send-off he deserves and he will go down as a Premier League great,” McCoist later concluded.
A key part of four Premier League title-winning teams, including one that went on to amass an incredible 100 points, it is hard to argue against that.
With 83 assists in 282 appearances in English football’s top flight, Silva has truly been a creative spark for Pep Guardiola, Manuel Pellegrini and Roberto Mancini, though Manchester City supporters will be quick to highlight that there is so much more to their magician’s game than just assists.
The way the former Spain international can pick out a pass or dribble past an opponent, as picked up on by FIFA’s official website, is just exquisite.
All in all, as McCoist has put it, Silva will surely go down as a Premier League great.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
