The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern were disappointed to lose their unbeaten record last weekend against Liverpool but are pleased to still be in the driving seat in the race for the Premier League title. But Pep Guardiola is a perfectionist and he would not have been happy with the Liverpool loss. Guardiola is always looking to improve things and a new centre-back will become even more of a priority after shipping four goals at Anfield.
Presnel Kimpembe is a wonderful young talent and this move suits all parties. Firstly, his style of play suits Guardiola’s. Kimpembe is calm and composed on the ball and able to play it out from the back. On top of that, he is an excellent reader of the game and he gets himself into good positions, showing maturity beyond his years in his play.
The 22-year-old would benefit from joining Manchester City as his game would develop loads with Guardiola’s guidance. His all round game, both defensively and with the ball too, would improve drastically. This could be an opportunity which would be too good for the youngster to turn down.
The France under-21 international has already received his first call up to the national team as well and he is already showing signs that he has overtaken Eliaquim Mangala in the race to make France’s World Cup squad. With Kimpembe competing with Nicolas Otamendi, John Stones and Vincent Kompany, Manchester City would arguably have the best defence in the league.
