Amitai Winehouse: He could emulate Lampard - Chelsea

Chelsea fans will feel massively relieved after their nervy encounter with Cardiff City as a late Reuben Loftus-Cheek header saved the day at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The Blues somehow managed to keep their top four hopes in check by grinding out a difficult result, which can be put down to Maurizio Sarri’s genius substitutions and a gift from the linesman for Cesar Azpilicueta’s goal.

Nevertheless, there was one big positive to take away from the victory and that was Loftus-Cheek’s sensational performance after coming on as a substitute, as he linked up play well, posed a constant threat and grabbed a goal.

Although, Chelsea fans weren’t the only ones in awe of his performance as Daily Mail journalist Amitai Winehouse compared the Englishman to Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.

‘Ruben Loftus-Cheek must have spent a lot of his time in Chelsea’s academy watching Frank Lampard. And he has clearly learned lessons from the Blues icon.’

‘Loftus-Cheek now has four Premier League goals this season, one more than he managed in the 46 appearances he made before this campaign. If this is something he is adding to his game, he could emulate Lampard.’

Maurizio Sarri actually made a good decision for once by bringing on the Englishman as he ended up securing a massive three points for the Blues.

Of course, Loftus-Cheek, who is valued at £22.5 million (by Transfermarkt), has the passing and goalscoring ability to kick on and attempt to emulate Frank Lampard but he’s just not being provided with enough opportunities to really develop at Stamford Bridge.

Overall, a very bold claim to make by comparing an under-utilised Chelsea player to a club legend.

Chelsea fans, do you think Loftus-Cheek can become the next Frank Lampard? Join the discussion by commenting below!
